In an effort to meet the evolving needs of the University’s education mission, Student Academic Affairs has been renamed to the Office of Education and Student Affairs (OESA), with Dr. John Davis Rodríguez named as vice chancellor.
OESA oversees the student experience for all students enrolled in health professions and graduate programs with programs and services that support student academic success; foster their development; and enhance the quality of life, educational environment, and student connections.
Previously, Student Academic Affairs and the Graduate Division were united under the leadership of Dr. Nicquet Blake. With the appointment of Dr. Davis Rodríguez, the two groups have transitioned to separate administrative units.
“This reorganization reinforces our commitment to the student experience and will expand our university-wide educational initiatives,” said Dr. Davis Rodríguez.
In addition, Usma Khan has joined OESA as interim director of administration, where she supports all administrative aspects of the office, which includes human resources management and space.
Students and campus partners may notice new logos and naming conventions but the same support and services they have come to expect will remain in place.
“I’m thrilled to be working with these crucial units, who provide vital services and programs to our students,” Dr. Davis Rodríguez said.
