The WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) is the regional organization that is responsible for accrediting public and private universities and colleges in California, Hawaii and the Pacific Basin.
WSCUC provides the accreditation for UCSF as a whole and for the Graduate Division in particular. Professional schools also receive accreditation from agencies specific to those programs.
In 2011, WSCUC affirmed UCSF's accreditation for 10 years. UCSF submitted an interim report in 2014. WSCUC responded to the interim report on February 9, 2015. UCSF submitted an updated Inventory of Educational Effectiveness Indicators for the mid-cycle review in 2016. Supporting documents appear in the archive.
In 2020, WSCUC will review UCSF's accreditation under the new, streamlined Thematic Pathway for Reaffirmation (TPR). UCSF's theme will expand on an initial effort to track career outcomes for PhD students. UCSF will build on this initial work by expanding career outcomes tracking and reporting to alumni of all programs, including professional degree recipients and postdoctoral scholars.
